Friday Random 10

No tarot reading this time, although I’m tempted to divine the outcome of my March Meeting talk.

  1. The Arcade Fire, “Haiti”

  2. Elliott Smith, “A Distorted Reality Is Now A Necessity To Be Free”
  3. Iron & Wine, “Free Until They Cut Me Down”
  4. Cat Power, “I Don’t Blame You”
  5. Mylo, “Musclecars”
  6. Wolf Parade, “It’s A Curse”
  7. Ladytron, “Cracked LCD”
  8. Belle & Sebastian, “Like Dylan In The Movies (Live Version)”
  9. Arctic Monkeys, “A Certain Romance”
  10. Feist, “Leisure Suite”

That’s a pretty good set, actually. Number 11 is Sybris, “You’re Only Confident In Your Insecurities”, which would have been a bad one to draw if I had been doing the tarot version.

Here is my list of 10 songs from the playlist:
    1. I Believe In You (Talk Talk)
    2. Dead Elephant Dance (Chuck Lucky And The Gentlemen)
    3. Not Enough Time (INXS)
    4. Somebody To Love (Queen)
    5. Witch Doctor [Remix] (unknown artist)
    6. Devo Corporate Anthem (Devo)
    7. What’s Going On (Cyndi Lauper)
    8. Rolling Thunder (A-Ha)
    9. Vanishing (Mariah Carey)
    10. Time And Again (A-Ha)
    1. Several of these songs are from the 80s, which should be no surprise. (And if it is, pay attention!)
    2. A-Ha is a two-hit wonder (with a couple other songs being known, such as “The Living Daylights” as the theme to the eponymous film), but a lot of their work is really good (and really underappreciated). Their 90s and 00s stuff took a much darker tone than their earlier work.
    3. We’re all Devo.

Yeah, none of mine are from the 80s. :) The oldest one is “Cracked LCD” which is from 2002. However, “Like Dylan In The Movies” was first recorded in 1996 (but that live version is from last year).
